Rank Your Google Business Profile in Multiple Service Areas | Garage Doors

Why GBP is your fastest path to more calls

When someone searches “garage door repair near me,” Google’s Map Pack often gets the first clicks. If your profile is weak—or only set up for your home base—you’ll miss calls from the next city over. This guide shows how to structure one compliant profile to win across multiple service areas.

Ground rules for service-area businesses (SABs)

  • You can run one profile per staffed location. Don’t create separate profiles for each city unless you have a real, staffed address there.
  • Use Service Areas to cover nearby cities/ZIPs (Google allows a limited number—keep it to your highest-value areas).
  • Hide your street address if you don’t serve customers at your location.
  • Consistency matters: NAP (name, phone) should match everywhere.

Step 1: Categories & services

  • Primary category: “Garage door supplier” or “Garage door repair” (choose the one that best matches your primary offer).
  • Additional categories: “Door supplier,” “Garage builder,” etc., only if directly relevant.
  • Services: Add your money-makers: torsion spring repair, opener repair/install, cable/track repair, panel replacement, off-track fix, new door install, emergency/after-hours.

Pro tip: Your primary category drives ranking. Don’t dilute it with unrelated categories.

Step 2: Service area targeting (quality over quantity)

  • Add nearby cities/ZIPs where you can maintain fast ETAs and competitive pricing.
  • Prioritize 3–7 core areas first; expand once you have content, reviews, and photos tied to those areas.
  • Re-order areas so top revenue ZIPs appear first.

Step 3: Photos & videos that prove you’re real

Upload weekly:

  • Job photos (before/after), close-ups of springs, cables, rollers, safety sensors.
  • People & vans (logo visible), warehouse/stock, branded invoices/estimates (no private info).
  • Short 10–20 sec videos: “Replacing broken spring in [City], same-day service.”

Pro tip: Geotags in EXIF don’t matter anymore—relevance and recency do.

Step 4: Products & offers

  • Add “products” like Torsion Spring Replacement, Belt-Drive Opener Install, Insulated Door Upgrade with price ranges or “From $…”.
  • Add an Offer post for seasonal promos (“Free tune-up with opener install in [City]”).

Step 5: Reviews & Q&A

  • Automate review requests via SMS after job completion.
  • Ask customers to mention city + service in their review (naturally).
  • Seed the Q&A section with common questions: warranties, emergency fees, same-day windows.

Step 6: Posts that tie to local intent

Post 1–2×/week:

  • “Same-day spring replacement in [Neighborhood] — before/after.”
  • “We install MyQ-enabled openers in [City] — control your garage from your phone.”

Step 7: Messaging, call history, and UTM tracking

  • Turn on Messaging (if you can respond fast).
  • Use a tracking number in GBP (with proper NAP settings) and keep your main number as the call routing destination.
  • Add UTM parameters to your website link:
    ?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=gbp
  • Review Call History weekly to catch missed calls and request call-backs.

Step 8: Website alignment (don’t skip this)

  • Create service pages (springs, openers, new doors) and area pages for top cities.
  • Add Name + primary city in title tags, H1, and schema.
  • Embed a simple service-area map and your top ZIPs on the location page.

Step 9: Citations & consistency

Claim/clean: Yelp, Angi, Thumbtack, Bing Places, Apple Maps.

  • Match your name + phone exactly.
  • Point to the same website URL with UTM where possible.

Step 10: Monitor & iterate (30–90 days)

  • Track rankings by ZIP/city (not just city center).
  • Watch calls, direction requests (if applicable), website clicks, and photo views.
  • Expand into new areas when you see stable traction in the first batch.
Quick checklist
  • Primary category set correctly
  • 3–7 core service areas prioritized
  • Weekly photos/videos uploaded
  • Products & offers added
  • Review requests automated
  • Q&A seeded
  • UTM on website link
  • Location/service pages live
  • Citations cleaned
  • KPIs tracked by ZIP
